How to Buy & Sell Physical Power Using Bilateral Transactions

Live Online Seminar: October 3rd 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm (ET)
On-Demand Recording Available October 9th (72 hour access)

How These Online Seminars Work

Learn how physical power is bought and sold in wholesale and retail competitive markets. These transactions have nothing to do with ISO administered  day-ahead energy auctions and are a completely different way to buy and sell power.

This proven online seminar features the same material used in the popular PGS in-person classroom training program. Register today and join the over 10,000 energy professionals who have already benefited from an in-depth PGS seminar.

What You Will Learn

  1. Why physical energy transactions are mostly a game of virtual contractual promises with no need for warehouses or inventory.
  2. How simultaneous title transfer works and when payment is due.
  3. The meaning of financially firm, "LD", interruptible, unit contingent, system firm, full requirements, and where to view the contract language of the various industry accepted master sales & purchase agreements.
  4. How to move physical power using OASIS and NERC tags, wheeling, pancaking rates, and why companies often move physical power financially causing it to ‘jump’ between regions.
  5. The difference between physical, scheduled, and contract path power flows and the commodity ownership chain.
  6. What "sellers choice" and "buyers choice" are, and how transaction "daisy chains" form at virtual trading hubs.
  7. How and why the majority of physical bilateral power transactions are “booked-out” and settled in cash.
